WoK AoK

This is a picture of mountains in New Hampshire that I took last Spring.

A AoK that reflects me is the arts and sense perception is a Wok that reflects me and helps me to understand and create art.

Art has always been important to me. Ever since I was little, I've loved to draw and paint. An artist mentality colors the way I see the world. When I look at a landscape, I automatically think, "What exactly am I looking at? How can I tell what I am seeing? And how could this be conveyed in a piece of artwork?" For example, I went to New Hampshire this vacation and I was looking at a beautiful view with pine trees and mountains. I asked myself, "How can I tell the mountains apart?" After thinking about this, I realized that the farthest away mountains are lightest and bluest. Each mountain was a different color and there were also shadows around the edges of each mountain. This way of thinking comes from the Wok of sense perception, or more specifically, seeing. When I use the way of knowing of sight, I automatically put what I see into the area of knowing, art, especially visual art. The AoK, art, reflects me because it is a big part of how I identify with the world. Also, when I look at many objects, I automatically think about the possible uses of the object for an art piece. A piece of paper, an old book cover, a magazine page, or a shell become completely different objects as I think about how I could use them.

In ToK class, my group and I examined the possible benefits the subjective nature of perception could have in art. I could identify with this question because I enjoy art. I was familiar with benefits such as freedom of interpretation and expression which would be different for each person because of the subjective nature of sense perception. We all use our sense perception of sight to interpret other people’s art in different ways and we use our sense of touch in creating our own artwork. Creating and looking at art develops our knowledge of the AoK, art.
